Sui Zhen is 22 year-old Sydney singer songwiter, Rebecca Freeman. She feels at home when writing and performing her music. Sui Zhen has a playful yet dark tone to her voice, her songs carry stories both innocent and wise. Live, she is a captivating presence. Both sweet and strong on stage, the melodic rhythm and sheer throw of her voice traverses audience into her imaginative world. Sui Zhen has experimented writing Children's songs and has lent her vocals to a few band choirs and electronic producers over the years. Sui Zhen collaborated with Jamie Lloyd to compose the UTS Goldeneye Award winning film score '37 Scenes in the Company of a Rabbit' made by Imogen Heath, Sui Zhen also jointly won with Imogen, Best Music Video for the part-animation, part 1930's black and white motion picture, for song 'Big and Small'. Her songs have been played on Triple J and are on daily rotation on FBi 94.5FM. Sui Zhen most recently organised a spectacular double EP launch at The Factory in Sydney. She performed with a full live band, against a back drop of animation and hand painted films stills with a sea of green dinosaur costumed dancers at her feet. Until 2006 Sui Zhen had only recorded in friends bedrooms, bathrooms and basements. Sui Zhen met producer Steeve Body from Limestone Studios and set out recording her debut EP which she self financed and independently released in June 2007. Sui Zhen now plans to travel, perform, write and record a full length album for release in 2009. *Sui Zhen's Debut EP recorded, mixed and produced by Steeve Body at Limestone Studios and mastered by Ben Feggans independently released June 2007.
