Illzilla was formed in Melbourne, mid-2004. Since it’s conception, Illzilla crew have maintained the vision of bringing a fresh new sound to Melbourne’s hip-hop scene, through the creation of eclectic and highly original music, with provoking social messages and stoopidly PHAT beats! Drawing its members from a formidable array of existing groups (Combat Wombat, Blue King Brown, Equills, The Red Eyes, Mr Jigga, True Live and more...), Illzilla have created an amazing live sound that few other Australian groups can rival. All members of the band are highly experienced musicians in their own right, who have firmly established their place in the Melbourne music scene. Illzilla truly are the creators of a unique sound and are confident that in the next few years, they will significantly contribute to the acceptance of Australian hip-hop (and related genres) within the international arena. A fierce four piece rhythm section accompanies two razor sharp vocalists, who stand alongside celebrated turntablist DJ Wasabi, a dynamic and innovative scratch artist, known best for his work with Combat Wombat and FortKnight Productions. With a firm footing in their Hip Hop roots, the band seamlessly blends Reggae, Soul and Old-school Funk with the more modern flavours of RnB, Dancehall and UK Jungle/ Garage Hip Hop styles.
